February Club Night 2011
Published 00:00 on 16 Feb 2011
Our club night was held, as usual, on the Mary Mouse II Lightship in Haslar Marina and the Lightship catering staff again laid on their curry, rice and papadum for £6 meal deal. For the first time we used the main deck in the "sports bar", the aft section of the main bar area which gave us more room (and easier access to the bar!). With the increasing number of members attending, we are most grateful to Solent Caterers, who manage the Lightship, for allowing us private use of this area.
The first presentation of the evening was from Colin Smith, a very expereinced sailor and Bosun of the Queen's Harbour Master (QHM) Volunteer Harbour Patrol. Colin spoke about the small boat channel at the entrance to Portsmouth harbour and the hazards this presents to both commercial and leisure craft that have forged the creation of the LNM that govern its use. There was some interesting questions and debate and we thank Colin for giving up his time to come and speak with us. | The second presentation was from Samantha Cassell. Samantha (actually everyone knows here as Sam) talked about a new service offering called Yacht Care +, presented as a unique maintenance package for your boat, free to join and offering a realxed schedule for routine maintenance, with a fee of charge personal service and many discounts.
