Yarmouth mid-week rally 2024

Tuesday 18th June to Thursday 20th June

This 2 night rally is set to run at the same time as a rally across The Channel to Cherbourg (TBC) so if you would prefer to stay in home waters this is the rally for you! Please DO NOT book both rallies.  You are welcome to switch between them at any time up until bookings close on Friday 14 June, at which time we are committed to providing the marina with final details of the boats attending.

We visit the often very busy harbour of Yarmouth most years, usually over a weekend but this time mid-week.  Last year we visited the Royal Solent Yacht Club for the first time as a rally and the food and service were excellent.  We have therefore arranged a repeat visit, scheduled for Wednesday 19th at 19:00.

Wednesday is the RSYC Club night when members are out sailing in the late afternoon before coming in for supper. The supper menu offers a choice of 3 main dishes [at around £16] including 1 veggie, followed by a choice of desserts and coffee. Those booked on the rally prior to Saturday 1 June will be invited to confirm whether they wish to go to the RSYC and make a Main menu choice. Booking for the meal will close on Saturday 8 June.  Limited additions may be possible after this date but cannot be guaranteed.

With HW Portsmouth at 09:47 BST on 18th June this should give you a favourable tide down the Solent towards Yarmouth.  As a 2 night rally you will have a full day on Wednesday to enjoy the Western IOW. You have the option of extending your stay into the weekend by direct arrangement with the harbour office. Unless you pre book the nights on their website which is always limited & difficult, this will only be possible once you are in Yarmouth.  However once you are in you should be ok although you may need to move berth.

Things to do include:

The Hop On Hop Off bus to the Needles.  This takes you to the Dimbolar Museum (Art & photography gallery) at Freshwater and the Needles Battery (free for National Trust members)

Carisbrooke Castle (free to English Heritage members). The bus to Newport (30 minutes) drops you in Carisbrooke village and the Castle is a 10-15 min walk up the hill.

The River Yar walk via the Red Lion

Yarmouth Castle (another EH property)
