Folly mid-week Rally 2026 Provisional

16th - 18 June

The Folly Inn: Reopening date for popular Isle of Wight pub confirmed after extensive refurbishment - HampshireLive

Folly midweek rally 16th - 18th June 2026

Join us for a relaxing couple of days on the River Medina.  Nestling near the picturesque eastern bank of the river, The Folly mid-river pontoons offer a peaceful destination with the Folly Inn available via their water taxi. Some rafting-up may be necessary.  This rally is being run at the same time as the Cross Channel Cruise in Company for those that don't want to make the big trip. It's also a sheltered alternative to crossing the Channel if the weather is unsuitable for that trip.

On the Tuesday evening (16th August) we have booked tables to dine at The Folly Inn with its lovely views across the Medina.

On the Wednesday there are several choices open to those attending: relax on board your boat enjoying the peace and quiet of the mid-river moorings, or a bus trip to visit Osborne House, or a bus trip or a walk to Newport for lunch at the Bargeman's Rest. The tides are also suitable for a trip up the river by dinghy! After a "bring a bottle" pontoon party on Wednesday evening we will will have a 'Bring & Share' meal on the pontoon or on boats if the weather is inclement. The Folly Launch (water taxi) can be reached on Ch 72 or by phone on 07884 400046.

Most of us will be moored to the mid-river pontoons but there may be some berths available on the walk-ashore moorings on the east bank, please let me know if you require one by email to events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk. Again, some rafting-up may be necessary.

On the Thursday, you can take your time returning to Haslar, perhaps via a breakfast or lunch stop in Osborne Bay should you wish.

A Rally Lead will be available to help with questions and bookings, and there are a number of other roles (see Duty Roster below) where we need volunteers to help make the rally more enjoyable. Please take a look and if you can help with a role just click on "Volunteer" or get in touch with events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk and we can explain more details.

Please call the Folly Moorings on Channel 72 as you approach for berthing instructions. We advise monitoring on Ch11 (Portsmouth Harbour) and Ch 12 (Southampton VTS) as appropriate together with Channel 16.

By taking part in the event, you declare that the boat and crew are fit for the conditions that they are likely to encounter., that you accept your responsibilities as outlined above, and that the boat is insured with cover of at least £2M against third party claims.
