Talk: "Life in a Blue Suit" (Royal Navy) by Dave Allport

Join us at The Hornet Services Sailing Club for a talk about life in the Royal Navy from Dave Allport MBE. Dave retired from the Royal Navy in 2006 as a Warrant Officer 1, with over 34 years service. He was awarded the MBE in 2004 in recognition of service to the Royal Navy and community charity work particularly Guide Dogs for the Blind. On retirement Dave moved to the Queens Harbour Master staff as a Vessel Traffic Services Operator in the busy port of Portsmouth and served for 17 years, before finally retiring in July 2022. 

In this talk Dave describes his life in the Royal Navy from basic training to retirement, from Frigates to Aircraft Carriers with historical nautical facts and far-fetched stories. Share the life of the Senior Service when it is away from the wall. 

The Hornet always look after us very well and the meal available (at member's own cost) on this night will be lasagne served with garlic bread and a side salad plus a vegetarian option.
