Talk: 'A Solent Cruise: Part 1' by Dave Allport

Join us at The Hornet Services Sailing Club for a talk on cruising in the Solent from Dave Allport MBE. Dave retired from the Royal Navy in 2006 as a Warrant Officer 1, with over 34 years service. He was awarded the MBE in 2004 in recognition of service to the Royal Navy and community charity work particularly Guide Dogs for the Blind. On retirement Dave moved to the Queens Harbour Master staff as a Vessel Traffic Services Operator in the busy port of Portsmouth and served for 17 years, before finally retiring in July 2022. 

In this talk Dave describes a cruise from the Nab Tower to the Round Tower in Portsmouth with a commentary on the sights and history of the Solent and Portsmouth Harbour. Part 2 will follow on 12th May. Lifejackets and sea sickness pills will be available!!

The Hornet always look after us well and the meal available at member's own cost will be chicken & ham pie and chips plus a vegetarian option.

18:00 - 23:00      Bar open throughout evening
