Swanwick Dinghy Dash
Join us for the Late Summer Bank Holiday weekend for some fun at the top of the River Hamble! Nestling on the picturesque eastern bank of the river, Swanwick Marina offers excellent facilities and a variety of walks, pubs and restaurants to explore close by. It's also ideally situated as a starting point for a trip up the river by kayak or dinghy!
On the Saturday evening, after our traditional pontoon party, we are planning to dine at The Old Ship (TBC) in Lower Swanwick. The menus will be available later.
On the Sunday we will be heading up river under the motorway bridge so bring your own kayak, canoe or dinghy and outboard with a little extra fuel to top up in the lunch break. We will be departing Swanwick Marina at 10:30 am on Sunday morning to catch the tide upriver. Our final destination is planned to be the Horse and Jockey (TBC) at Curbridge where we will be stopping for lunch and a drink before taking the afternoon tide back to Swanwick. Again, the Horse and Jockey menus will be available later.
After a pontoon party on Sunday evening we will will have a 'Bring & Share' meal on the pontoon or on boats if the weather is inclement.
On Monday, you are welcome to go for a walk in the morning before returning to Haslar.
A lead boat will be available to help and advise. We will be using VHF Channel 77 as an inter-club frequency for the weekend although monitoring on Ch11 (Portsmouth Harbour) and Ch 12 (Southampton VTS) as appropriate together with Channel 16 is advised. We normally create a rally WhatsApp group so that we can keep in touch and share notes on progress.
