Swanwick Dinghy Dash Rally 2026
Swanwick Dinghy Dash 29th - 31st August 2026
Join us for the Late Summer Bank Holiday weekend for some fun at the top of the River Hamble! Nestling on the picturesque eastern bank of the river, Swanwick Marina offers excellent facilities and a variety of walks, pubs and restaurants to explore close by. It's also ideally situated as a starting point for a trip up the river by kayak or dinghy!
On the Saturday evening, after a "bring a bottle" pontoon party, we are dining at The Old Ship in Lower Swanwick at 7pm. Menu choices will be available nearer the time.
On the Sunday, we will be heading up river under the motorway bridge, so bring your own kayak, canoe or dinghy and outboard with a little extra fuel to top up in the lunch break. We will be departing Swanwick Marina at 11:30 am on Sunday morning to catch the tide for the approximately one hour journey upriver. Our destination is the Horse and Jockey at Curbridge where we will be stopping for lunch and a drink. Lunch is booked for 13:00 and we will be taking the afternoon tide back to Swanwick. Again, the Horse and Jockey menus will be available nearer the time.
After a "bring a bottle" pontoon party on Sunday evening we will will have a 'Bring & Share' meal on the pontoon or on boats if the weather is inclement.
NOTE: As Haslar Marina is now part of the Premier group, it is possible to book 'visitor berths' using the Premier app. Please do not do so, as your request is likely to be declined as we have taken the visitor slots for the rally. Once you have requested tickets below for your boat and crew and our bookings are confirmed by the Marina, we may ask you to use the app, but we will wait until instructed to do so by the Marina.
A Rally Lead will be available to help with questions and bookings, and there are a number of other roles (see Duty Roster below) where we need volunteers to help make the rally more enjoyable. Please call Swanwick Marina on Ch 80 as you approach (tell them you are with the Haslar YC rally) to get your berthing instructions. Some rafting up may be necessary. We advise monitoring on Ch11 (Portsmouth Harbour) and Ch 12 (Southampton VTS) as appropriate together with Channel 16. We will probably create a rally WhatsApp group nearer the time so that we can keep in touch and share notes on progress.
