Talk: Member's Evening
Join us at The Hornet Services Sailing Club for a number of informal short talks - given by you the members!
We all have tales to tell, how we have been enjoying our sailing, either this year or previously, and this evening is an opportunity to share our experiences with other members.
* Where have you been?
* What was it like?
* How was the sea state (and wind for the rag and stick merchants)?
* Maybe you've had a problem (what, on a boat? Surely not!) and what you did to overcome it.
The theme is "How we have been enjoying our boating activities", whatever that means to you, be it sailing or motor boating.
Ideally we would like 3 or 4 such talks, each lasting about 10 - 15 minutes with up to 5 minutes Q&A after each. As volunteer members get in touch the itinerary below will be changed to add subjects and people's names.
But you don't have to stand up and give a talk if you don't want to, you could just come along, enjoy a bar meal and a drink in the Hornet Clubhouse and then settle down to hear some tales from your fellow Club members. It should be good fun!
Please let Jem Nicholls (or any member of the Committee) know if you want to give a short talk, what the subject is and send any photos that we will compile into a "slide show". You don't need to worry about the format or technology, we'll sort all that out. You can email Jem at events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk
So far the itinerary for the evening is:
18:00 Hornet Bar opens for drinks and meals at member's own cost
19:30 Anchorages in The Solent + Q & A
19:50 Bay de Seine + Q & A
20:10 Trips to Littlehampton + Q & A
18:00 - 23:00 Bar open throughout evening
You will need to book to attend as we have to give a list of names to the MoD security guards. Please bring photo ID such as a driving license.
