Yarmouth & Poole midweek Rally 28th - 31st July 2026

We start this rally by visiting Yarmouth Harbour for 1 night on Tuesday 28th July before moving on the following morning for 2 nights in Poole. We've done this to help with the tidal gate through The Needles. If you want to attend only one of these destinations please send an email to events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk

We visit the often very busy harbour of Yarmouth most years and always enjoy this lovely spot. There is often excitement to be had in watching other people manoeuvre but the berthing staff are always very helpful. We will be holding a pontoon party at some point on Tuesday evening.

Poole Quay Boat Haven is perfectly positioned to offer a base from which to explore Poole Harbour and its surrounding areas. As well as being right on the quayside with a stunning view of Brownsea Island, the lively cafés, bars and restaurants are all close by. Poole is a lovely destination for those who wish to sail beyond the Solent and travel a little further.

There are some self-guided walks available around the area following the Poole Cockle Trail, leaflets will be provided on the rally or are available at Poole Museum (small charge) or they can be downloaded from the website www.pooletourism.com    There are all sorts of other suggestions of things to do on this very useful website.

We are planning to book Rockfish seafood restaurant (TBC) for our evening meal on Wednesday 29th July. For Thursday night we hope to book La Lupa restaurant on the quay (TBC). Both are within a short walk of the marina.

We hope to arrange a visit to the RNLI Lifeboat College in Poole on the Thursday afternoon but this has yet to be confirmed. The cost will be advised nearer the time.

You may wish to take a trip over to Brownsea Island at some point where you can look out for the famous red squirrels and other wildlife. It's only a short trip via the Brownsea Island Ferry which runs from Poole Quay next door to the marina.

A Rally Lead will be available to help with questions and bookings, and there are a number of other roles (see Duty Roster below) where we need volunteers to help make the rally more enjoyable. Please take a look and if you can help with a role just click on "Volunteer" or get in touch with events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk and we can explain more details.

We suggest monitoring on Ch11 (Portsmouth Harbour) and Ch 12 (Southampton VTS) as appropriate together with Channel 16.

HW Portsmouth is 11.57 BST on Tuesday 28th July and 13.44 BST on Friday 31st.
