Yarmouth May Day weekend rally 2026
Friday 1st to Monday 4th May
This is a 3 night rally over the May Day bank holiday weekend. We visit the often very busy harbour of Yarmouth most years and always enjoy this lovely spot. There is often excitement to be had in watching other people manoeuvre! We will reserve some spaces together and some rafting up is to be expected.
On your approach please call the harbour on VHF Ch 68 and say that you are part of the Haslar Yacht Club rally. The berthing crew are very helpful and will guide you in and can even help with a gentle push to get you berthed.
Friday evening: we will be holding a pontoon party at some point on the Friday evening but as we expect members to arrive at various times we will leave it to you to sort your own dining arrangements that evening.
On Saturday and Sunday evenings we will book one of the many good restaurants or pubs in the town (TBC).
With HW Portsmouth at 12:08 BST on 1st May this should give you a favourable tide down the Solent towards Yarmouth. As a 3 night rally you will have a full day on Saturday to enjoy the Western IOW - see below for suggestions.
A Rally Lead will be available to help with questions and bookings, and there are a number of other roles (see Duty Roster below) where we need volunteers to help make the rally more enjoyable. Please take a look and if you can help with a role just click on "Volunteer" or get in touch with events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk and we can explain more details.
Things to do in and around Yarmouth include:
Take a walk along the bank of the River Yar to Freshwater Bay.
The Hop-On Hop-Off bus to the Needles. This takes you to the Dimbolar Museum (art & photography gallery) at Freshwater and the Needles Battery (free for National Trust members)
Carisbrooke Castle (free to English Heritage members). The bus to Newport (30 minutes) drops you in Carisbrooke village and the Castle is a 10-15 min walk up the hill.
The River Yar walk via the Red Lion
Yarmouth Castle (another English Heritage property)
