At Haslar Yacht Club, we are committed to protecting the security and privacy of our members data and of those visiting our web site or communicating electronically with us. The HYC web site is protected by https/SSL security which means that data flowing to and from the web site is encrypted.

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into effect on the 25th May 2018 and our web site and procedures have been updated in the light of those regulations.

The HYC web site uses the Membership Management Software from Sailing Club Manager. Information on their Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, GDPR Compliance and Terms of Service can be found on their web site.

The HYC Privacy Policy has been created based on guidance from the RYA and can be found here. This Privacy Policy contains an explanation of what happens to personal data that you choose to provide to us, or that we collect from you when you visit this site.

We do occasionally update this Policy so please do return and review this Policy from time to time.

Membership Data

Membership data, the visibility of that data and email subscriptions are held in the 'Membership Profile'. What is visible to other members is shown in the 'Membership Directory'. If you wish to look at, or change the visibility of your membership data, you may do this at any time, by logging into the HYC web site and editing your profile and your privacy settings in the portal. Please note: If you 'unsubscribe' from email newsletters, then you will not receive emails from the club about upcoming events.

Cookies

A cookie is used to identify your device to the website when you visit again so the site can load your preferences, automatically accept your credentials, or otherwise personalize the experience. The cookies used by the Sailing Club Manager software can be found on their site here.
