Frostbite Rally 2017
Published 00:00 on 25 Mar 2017
Our 2017 Rally program got off to a blustery start with strong winds, a choppy sea but generally quite mild temperatures. Over half of the boats arrived on the Friday taking advantage of a slightly better forecast and gathered for dinner in The Lifeboat with thanks to Tim Waite for having the foresight to book a large table.
The remainder of the Rally arrived throughout Saturday triumphant in their achievement of beating the wind and arriving in time for the Rugby which of course was not so victorious! East Cowes Marina welcomed us all and there was delicious cake and coffee to celebrate their recent acquisition of Deacons Boatyard.
With a quick turnaround members were ferried to the Island Sailing Club for some to drown their sorrows over the rugby defeat and others to enjoy the packed-out restaurant, usual fine fare and convivial atmosphere. In the company of our new and outgoing Commodores, it was great to see new faces on the rally who we look forward to seeing on future events.
Sunday saw boats leaving throughout the day into more brisk winds with fast (if not the fastest?) passages back to our home base.
This was a great start to the 2017 season and well done to those who made the trip. The Frostbite Rally heroes were;
