Bembridge Rally 27-29th August 2016

Well, the weather gods were certainly kind to us for this rally! With some of the boats turning up in the sunshine as early as the Wednesday before the rally, and other on the Saturday evening of the BBQ, by 20.00 we were all safely tied up on the Duver pontoon and in the marquee loaned by Bembridge Harbour cooking our evening meal on their excellent BBQ facilities. The club also provided a case of wine left over from the Commodore's Reception a few weeks ago which was, unsurprisingly, well received by all.

With something over 160 boats knitted onto the pontoon, Gordon the Berthing Master and his team did an excellent job of getting our 16 HYC boats safely moored AND all together as a rally group. Quite a feat despite some of us having to move about a bit (still there's nothing quite as much fun as playing about with boats and mooring lines, eh?). The prize for most moves goes to "Kraken" who managed to get moved 4 times in three days, well done Steve & Lyn.

Four new members were also on their first HYC Rally, Richard, Viv and Matt on "Gypsy Girl" , Samir on "Jemila", Ed & Bernie on "Skipper's Rhapsody" and Richard & Nicole on their very impressive new 15m Sunseeker "Challenger Lightning".

The weather was a little bit lively on Sunday and although a few of the group left, most stayed until Monday and enjoyed a settled passage back to home berths.
