HYC Christmas Party - 4th December 2010
Published 00:00 on 10 Dec 2010
Despite the appalling weather leading up to the event, all but three of the forty people booked managed to get to Landers Restaurant at Haslar Marina. Alastair and his staff provided a suitably "christmassy" environment including mulled wine as people arrived.
Once we'd all settled in the restaurant, the Commodore addressed the club suitably attired in her festive Commodore's hat. Anne promoted the raffle during her speech although Lyn and Dawne had already done a great job selling tickets. The prizes were excellent and included two nights free berthing at any D&R Marina and a magnum of Champagne donated by Dean & Reddyhoff (thanks Ben and Richard) and two £40 vouchers for food & drink donated by Alastair on behalf of Solent Caterers. As a result of ticket sales we have been able to donate £100 to our chosen club charity, the RNLI. The meal was superb and very good value, and certainly sets the scene for further club dinners at Landers. After the meal the tables were pushed back in the restaurant and the dancing commenced. Many of the people retired to the bar and used the opportunity to get to know their fellow members. We continued until midnight and I suspect there were a good few thick heads on Sunday morning ..... |
