March Club Night GAFIRS

With the Lightship now fully open, we were able to hold our first monthly club night of 2012 on Friday March 9th in the Sports Bar.
32 HYC members came along to hear an excellent talk about GAFIRS (Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service). The talk was given by Steve Hobbs, PR man for GAFIRS and covered the history of the organisation, the people involved, the training necessary to develop a rescue service and of course, information about some of the rescues that have taken place. We were also lucky to have along Mary, a local fundraiser for GAFIRS - who will be abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower on May 6th with the aim of raising funds for this very worthwhile cause. A good few members sponsored Mary for her brave effort!
It was a great evening lots of fun to get everyone socialising again on the Lightship - with a very interesting talk to kick us off!
