Bembridge Rally July 26

Haslar Yacht Clubs one-night rally to Bembridge Harbour was a great success, blessed with excellent weather and good company throughout. Members enjoyed a pleasant sail across the Solent in light winds and warm sunshine, making for a relaxed and enjoyable passage. On arrival we had plenty of help from the young marina staff and the boats settled comfortably in the picturesque harbour, where the peaceful surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for the evenings social gathering.
The highlight of the rally was the BBQ, where members shared delicious food, refreshments, and plenty of laughter. It was a good opportunity for both new and long-standing members to catch up and swap sailing stories. As the sun set over the harbour, everyone appreciated the stunning views and the camaraderie that comes from time spent afloat together.

A number of members also managed to book into The Best Dressed Crab which is recommended for lunch.
We awoke on Wednesday morning to find that the wind was stronger than expected and some of us decided to stay an extra night. Some members walked to Seaview and had an excellent lunch at Seaview Yacht Club and enjoyed the spectacular views there. In the evening there was an impromptu pontoon party aboard Majenta. As someone said "If we can't rustle up a few bottles of wine and some nibbles at short notice, what sort of yacht club are we?!"
With ideal conditions and a memorable evening or two ashore, the Bembridge Harbour rally proved to be another enjoyable and successful club event.
With grateful thanks to Jem for organising the rally and to Ian for acting as rally lead.
