Bembridge Spring Rally 23/24 April 2016

Finally some decent weather!! And everyone who said they were coming managed to arrive - well nearly everyone....one of our members was unable to make the short journey due to a "hurty knee"!!

With HW at lunchtime and a brisk NE wind, there was some fine sailing to be had in the morning and people were arriving feeling very pleased with their sail over. As ever, the Bembridge Marina crew had us very well organised and managed to knit together our entire fleet of 13 boats.

On Saturday evening we managed to nearly sink the pontoon with a pontoon party to get our evening underway. This is a great time for members to meet each other and, with quite a few new members in attendance, the opportunity was not wasted.

We then all boarded the Bembridge marina water taxis and, courtesy of Haslar Yacht Club, we made the short trip to Brading Haven Yacht Club where we enjoyed a simple but tasty 2 course meal in the company of BHYC members and those of Emsworth Yacht Club who also had a rally the same weekend (in fact there were 4 rallies in the marina!).

Sunday dawned with some fine sunny weather and our members either went walking, ate bacon sarnies, fixed things on their boats or generally lazed about .... With a continuing NE wind another fine sail was enjoyed on the return to Portsmouth.
