Osborne House Rally 23rd 24th July 2011

Well the weather has finally been kind to us! Nine boats gathered at Island Harbour Marina on the Isle Of Wight for this years Osborne House Classical concert and firework display. Six of our boats arrived on the tide on Friday afternoon and, following a late afternoon beer and wine session on "Tallulah", we walked to the Folly Inn for our evening meal and entertainment.
| A bright Saturday morning saw many of the our members walking to Newport, a very pleasant stroll along the banks of the Medina. With the coach booked at 18.30, "Sparkling Spirit" very generously invited the entire rally on board for pre-concert Pimms. We arrived and staked our pitch at the concert ground and, armed with chairs, tables and VERY comprehensive picnics, we settled down in the evening sunshine to enjoy excellent music from the Bournemouth Philharmonic Orchestra with a magnificent firework display accompanying their last few tunes. Sunday dawned and, with HW at 0600, many of our boats left on the tide in the glorious early morning sunshine to make their way back to home Marinas or onward destinations. This years Rally of 5 sailing boats and 4 motor boats was:Chelsea Blues - Rob & Lyn Ardley, Icarus - Peter and Lyn Day, Kraken - Steve & Lyn Holliman,Triple Contraint - Brian & Hilary Masters,Yasmine - Chris & Pat Porter, In Trim - Paul & Liz Price, Sparkling Spirit - Time & Jenni Waite, Sentosa - Grahame Solway & Jilly Thornton, Tallulah - Brian & Dawne Dunton plus members Dave and Audrey Stent who, having sold their boat, arrived in a 29ft Camper Van (more of a lorry really) and parked on the hard standing, thus proving, where there's a will ........
