Beaulieu Rally September 2011

Well, organised we may have been but nobody could have predicted the fabulous weather that greeted our arrival at Bucklers Hard. We tied up on the mid river pontoon just upstream of the marina and settled down to enjoy the sun.
In total we had eight boats with the usual 50/50 split of sail and power. Vessels were: Sail - Sentosa, Kraken, Kiskadee & Disarray Power - Yasmine, Chelsea Blues, Icarus & Tallulah Although we had the BBQ facilities ashore booked, the weather was so nice we decided to use the facilities on board three of the boats to prepare food for all. | |
Chelsea Blues and Yasmine featured as the rally "party boats" . All boats had assembled by midday on Saturday and it took only minutes after Icarus's arrival for Pete & Lyn Day to set up a table, with wine beers and nibbles for all - well done. Thus the day continued, Chris Porter on Yasmine prepared freshly caught Mackerel and a superb sea bass caught the same day! Rob & Lyn on Chelsea Blues returned from their walk to the Motor Museum and fired up the hot plate on Chelsea Blues; a further hotplate was set-up on Yasmine and cooking commenced. Socialising, eating and the odd glass or two continued with the day finishing as the temperature finally dropped down around 10.00 pm.
Sunday dawned and some took time to enjoy the rugby. By lunchtime all boats had departed with the yachts enjoying a brisk SW wind to take them back to their home marinas. 10 of the 16 rally participants finished the weekend with lunch at The Castle in Gosport.
A great weekend, and one to be repeated next year.
