Frostbite Rally 2nd/3rd March 2013

As with previous Frostbite Rally's this was a well attended event with 16 boats booked and, with 2 late cancellations, by early afternoon on Saturday, 14 boats had arrived in Cowes Yacht Haven. Conditions for the sail over were flat and calm, not very spririted for the 9 sailing boats but ideal for the 5 motor boats. Unlike previous Frostbites when we have experienced unseasonably warm an sunny condition, this year it was cold, cold cold!!

Too cold for drinks on the pontoon, an 18.30 mustering saw us all decant into the Island Sailing Club who hosted an excellent value meal for the 32 rally participants.

The following morning saw a freshening easterly wind and most of the boats decided to catch the last of the spring tide back to Portsmouth. With wind over tide and 30 knots on the nose, we experienced a real early season shakedown!!

All boats returned safely to Portsmouth.
