  • Lymington Rally - September 2017

I had sailed past Lymington many times but never had reason to go in so I was looking forward to going somewhere new. We left Haslar at mid-morning to take maximum advantage of the ebb tide and enjoyed a lovely sail even though the wind dropped to almost nothing a couple of times. This usually coincided with the crew saying things like "we've come to complete stop" or "no boat speed at all" but of

  • Yarmouth Rally - August 2017

A total of fourteen boats with thirty-two people attended the rally which was a really good attendance. Unfortunately, one boat only got as far as Gilkicker before they had engine trouble and had to be towed back to Haslar, so they missed a great weekend. The weather was exceptional and I think that everyone had a good time. The evening meal at the Kings Head was quite acceptable and

  • Commodores Reception 17 June 2017 at Haslar Marina

A lovely warm and balmy evening set the stage for our annual reception on the lawn outside the Haslar Marina office and the event was enjoyed by about 60 of our members and a few prospective members. It was good to see so many of you and particularly a number of our members who had only joined in recent months. Your committee members tried to speak to as many of you as we could

Over half of the boats arrived on the Friday taking advantage of a slightly better forecast and gathered for dinner in The Lifeboat with thanks to Tim Waite for having the foresight to book a large table. The remainder of the Rally arrived throughout Saturday triumphant in their achievement of beating the wind

The Course was booked through the Yacht Club (thank you Brian for arranging) via the new training school in Haslar called Bacchus Yachting. The instructor was called Phil Brown who was so so knowledgable, he is in fact the trainer for the army who actually trains their trainers. The day was
